The “Drones for Agriculture: A One-Day Workshop for Future Innovators” held on October 16, 2024, was a remarkable success. Organized by the FOUNTAIN Team at the University of Peradeniya and conducted by SULECO Pvt Ltd, the workshop provided participants with hands-on experience in utilizing drone technology to revolutionize agriculture in Sri Lanka. Covering key areas such as precision farming, soil analysis, and sustainable practices, the event empowered young innovators and professionals to drive productivity and sustainability in the agricultural sector.

Key highlights of the workshop included welcome remarks by Prof. Ranjith Dissanayake, Founder of gapHQ and Team Leader of the FOUNTAIN Project, and an insightful keynote by Dr. Thilanka Ariyawansha from the University of Colombo. Engaging discussions were led by Mr. Manju Gunawardana, Chairman of Browns Agri Solutions and CEO of LOLC Holdings PLC Research & Innovation, and Mr. Rajitha Jayasinghe, Managing Director of SULECO Pvt Ltd. Special remarks were delivered by Prof. Chaminda Bandara, Coordinator of the FOUNTAIN Team.

The FOUNTAIN team, including Dr. Pradeep Gajanayake from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura and Ms. Sadeesha Senanayake, Research Assistant, along with the gapHQ team and University of Colombo ground staff, played a crucial role in making the event a success.
